This 12 acre site, run by the Bristol Clifton and West England Zoological Society was awarded 'Zoo of the Year 2004' by the Good Britain guide. The Zoo is known to be innovative and is dedicated to conservation.
As a major tourist attraction in Bristol, it is in fact the fifth oldest Zoo in the world, with breeding programs for endangered species, conservation of endangered species whilst bringing an understanding of the natural world to its visitors.
There are over 400 species (Mostly undercover, making this an all weather attraction) including monkeys, lions, seals, penguins, reptiles, gorillas, bats, bugs and water voles...and more!
Don't miss the opportunity to encounter animals up close during feeding times, and why not try to beat some animal records in the Zoolympics? Parents and schools can benefit from the regular education sessions.
There are of course excellent facilities, including a covered picnic area, baby changing, a restaurant serving hot and cold food and drinks and a gift shop.
