Brunels SS Britain the Worlds first great ocean liner step back in time when you boaard the multi award winning SS Great Britain. Launched in 1843 to provide luxury travel to New York, this great ocean liner set new standards in engineering, reliablility and speed.

You can learn about the passengers and crew - rich and famous, and the poor who left England to start a new life in Australia in the 1850's.

The Dock yard museum shows the fascinating history of |Brunel's masterpeice. There are plenty of hands - on interactive displays and great iron exhibits.

A personal audio "companion" will guide you around the vast ship with a choice of tours for adults and children. This is one of the most accessible historic ships in the world with lifts for wheelchair users and sign language guides for the deaf and audio guides for the blind. Entry is free for dedicated assistants and guide and hearing dogs are welcome.

There is plenty for childre to do, hear, see and smell! Sinbad the ships cat audio campanion, a talking toilet and even a wiff of sea sickness!

School groups have hands on work shops and tours.

The Dock yard cafe bar provides Victorian teas, home cooked meals and light refreshments. Lastly, purchased a soviner from the gift shop
