Buckland Abbey was home to Sir Francis Drake. The abbey was a cistercian monastery before being made into a home by Sir Richard Grenville. It's historic rooms and exhibitions show stories of the past. Via the Abbey to the Armada to the agriculture of the estate. The house has brilliant modern and Tudor plasterwork inside the Great Hall and The Drake chamber. The estate has a fantastic monastic barn, craft workshops and walks through a tranquil wooded valley by the River Tavy.
