This page is about National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth, Devon
This well known aquarium was setup solely with conservation, education and research in mind, making it unique in the UK. It serves as a regular source of information to the media - Newspapers, radio and television - Perhaps the most well known of these being the BBC's 'Blue Planet'. The aquariums mission is this:
"To inspire everyone to enjoy, learn and care about our Oceans through amazing, memorable experiences"
The exhibitions setup with the focus on education and conservation, with specialist exhibitions such as 'World of Sharks', 'Jewels of Plymouth Sound' and 'Water Life'.
The aquarium is home to over 4000 fish across over 50 displays, you will see sharks, sea-horses and many, many other species. You will learn about the water cycle, coral seas, Atlantic reef and mediterranean seas amougst others.
There are great views of the 'Plymouth Sound' from various locations within the aquarium, perhaps best with a snack or drink from the Ocean View Café where you can see the pleasure craft, yachts, ocean liners, tour boats, cargo ships and even naval vessels.
There is a gift shop selling a selection of fun and interesting items.
