The Lynton and Barnstaple Railway offically opened in May 1898. It is narrow gauge and the lenght of the line was 19 miles. The last train ran in September 1935. Woody Bay staion is the first to be restored. It is now in it fouth year of opertion with a mile of the railway reopened. Woody Bay Staion is wheelchair friendly with accessable toilet facilities ans each train can accommodate at least one wheelcahir user plus helper. Guide dogs are always welcome, as are other dogsd provided they are under control.

The next phase is underway and will be a total of 9 miles. You can already take leisurely ride through one of England's most beautiful landscapes.

The station shop has a range of giifts and souviners many of which are exsculsive to the Lynton asnd Barnstaple railway. The guide book is packed with information about the railway ands its history. Alll groups should phone in advance.

Hire a train for "Something Special" - a special ocassion, a party or even a film location. Phone to discuss requirements.
