All the family can enjoy a historical day out at Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life. Thi is a fascinating museum which was created in 1960 to reflect the social history of mid Devon. It was completely refurbished in 2001.

The vast collection - largest of its kind in the south covers agriculture, transport, craft and domestic life. See the lace produced in Tiverton for Royal weddings. There is a nationally important collection of farm vechiles, the GWR steam locomotive "The Tivvy Bumper" which once carried passengers along the branch lines around Tiverton.

Hand on activities provide learning opportunties for children up to key stage 3. Learn how cider was made using straw and apple pulp. Experience mid Devon during World War 2. Loans of artifacts and visits to schools can be arranged. For further information about this, contact the museums eduction officer.

The musems shop sells a wide range of inexpsensive gifts and books of local interest and history.

Temporary exhibitions for individuals and small groups to hold can be arranged in a modern and attractive space.
