Blandford Camp is home of the Royal Corps of Signals Museum, a couple of miles from the interesting Georgian town of Blandford Forum. It is the national museum of Army Communications and the exhibits and displays cover 150 years of communications in wars and campaigns from the Napoleonic wars onwards.
This collection is regarded as being of national importance and was founded in Catterick, North Yorkshire, in the mid 1930's. It was moved to Blandford Camp in 1967. Following an appeal to raise over 1 million pounds a new wing was constructed in 1995 and the museum was reopened following refurbishment, on the 28 May 1997.
The museum provides educational resources to local schools which is one of its main purposes, others being to preserve the heritage of the Royal Signals and to provide research and recruiting support facilities.
