This award winning standard gauge preserved steam railway operates on six miles of track between Swanage and Norden where there is a large car park: Park your car and travel to the seaside by steam train it passes the ruins of Corfe Castle, through the lovely isle of Purbeck. The controlling body of Swanage Railway - the Swanage Railway Trust, aims to restore the rail link between Swanage and Wareham - connecting with main line trains as a daily service. They hope to create a comprehensive historical record ofn steam railways and steam technology in the south of England.
The remaining section of track were laid at Norden on 3rd January 2002 and on 8th September 2002 the first through train from the main line at Wareham visited Swanage.
