Charles Dickens became famous for his novels and short stories. Charles Dickens lived in Portsmouth for the first 3 years of his life. He returned to Portsmouth on 3 occasions. On one occasion he researched infromation for his novel 'Nicholas Nickelby' and other occasion to give public readings of his books.
