The New Forest Ninth Centenary Trust was founded in 1979, who set about raising funds for the New Forest Museum. Nearly 10 years later in Summer 1988, the Museum was opened by the Duke of Edinburgh
The Museum offers something for locals as well as for the thousands of regular visitors. It is an excellent way to learn about life in the New Forest such as commoning, Forest management, the envionment, tourism and much more. The Museum is full of interesting displays . A self guided visit takes around 1 hour.
The centre serves as an excellent base for educational visits for Schools which can be organised to suit, these are hosted by one of the Museums qualified staff. There is a library of New Forest books, maps and reports which are available for public viewing.
There are regular events through out the year such as galleries, nature talks and seasonal events such as pumpkin carving.

Opening Times
The New Forest Centre and Gift Shop is open 10am - 5pm, 7 days a week. Last entry to the New Forest Museum is 4pm daily.
Closed for STOCKTAKE (31 January from 12.00 and 1 February) and for CHRISTMAS (24 December from 12.30pm, 25 December and 26 December)
