Cheddar Gorge is a site of special scientific interest because of its limestone cliffs, beautiful caves and rare plants and animals.
Six caves are scheduled as Ancient Monuments because they reveal the early history of our ancestors in Britain.
Gough's Cave tells the story of its Ice Age Creation, Stone Age occupation and Victorian Exploration.
The Museum of Pre history explores the world and mindset of our ancestors form out of Africa to the Cheddar man. (Daily demonstrations of Flint Knapping).
Cox's Cave is a striking contrast to Gough's Cave with its silent mirror pools, dancing fountains and evocative music.
The Crystal Quest shows a world of good and evil, dragons and ancient sorcery. Climb
the steps from the valley floor to reach the top of the cliffs and the look out tower.
The 3 mile circular walk across the kast limestone landscape.
The Gorge Tour Bus takes you on an open top tour through Horse Shoe Bend and up past The Pinnacles. The Guide points out all the landmarks and drops you off at Gough's Cave. Don't forget to visit the Cargo Gift Shop and Explorers Cafe - Bar.

Opening Times
uring the Easter, May & Whitsun School Holidays and throughout July & August we open at 10.00am and close at 5.30pm - however the last admission to the caves, the Museum and the bus is 5.00pm.
Throughout the rest of the year, we open at 10.30am and close at 5.00pm - however the last admission to the caves, the Museum and the bus is 4.30pm.
Gorge Tour Bus operates during the February Half Term, at weekends until the beginning of April and then daily until the end of September, at weekends until the end of October, and daily during the October/November Half Term. The open-top Gorge Tour Bus does not operate when it is raining.
