Set in 51 acres of lovely Somerset countryside, Ferne cares for 300 unwanted or retired animals. They vary in size from horses to chipmunks.
Visitors can also see our nature trail, dragonfly ponds and conservation areas and a collection of vintage agricultural machinery. The site is non - smoking and picnic tables and refreshments are available. There is a Tea room and Gift shop.
Admission is free as the Sanctuary is funded by donations and generous support from visitors and friends. Animals can be sponsored from £10 a year.
The Sanctuary was founded in 1939 to provide refuge for those leaving to fight the war but many did not return. Rehoming of cats and dogs takes place within a 30 mile radius. Guided tours and school visits available.
