Situated on the site of a 9th Century nunnery, this 460 year old historic building is rich in history which you can experience through its architecture, art collection and gardens. Be sure to visit the The south front and State Rooms as well as the Single and Double cube rooms which demonstrate the popular Palladian style of architectural design.
The Wilton estate spans some 14,000 acres, and is often used as a film location including 'Sense & Sensibility' and 'Pride & Prejudice'.
There is plenty to see and do at Wilton, including a short film on show introducing you to the house and estate, a house tour, garden tour, various exhibitions and childens activities including trampoline, swing boats and climbing ropes.
Throughout the year there are events held at Wilton house, such as a candlelight Mozart Opera, garden walks and antique fairs (Check website for details).
There is free car and coach parking, and a well stocked shop selling Souvenirs and gifts, and a restaurant serving teas, coffees, hot and cold snacks and meals.
